I've always wanted to start off with an Eevee, and almost always have one on my team when playing through a game. Maybe add it as a fourth option in a future game. But i see starters as the typical grass, fire, water type pokemon.
But then again, through Pokemon bank and trading, you can pretty much have any pokemon as a starter.
